PPMI Celebrated the May Day 2015 by Tabligh Akbar and Social Activity

Solidaritas.net, Karawang – While many worker unions and labor unions are busy with various agendas in Jakarta to celebrate International Worker’s Day or May Day 2015 on 1 May, the laborers who are the members of the Branch Representative Council of Indonesian Moslem Workers Brotherhood (DPC PPMI) Karawang preferred to hold Tabligh Akbar in Karawang.

DPC PPMI Karawang will hold a volleyball tournament between the Member Workers Brotherhoods (PPAs) of all over Karawang regency. The theme of the tournament was ‘Domba Cup Championship 2015’. The volleyball tournament will be held at the Volleyball Court in Swarna Citra Pratama Housing, the labor housing initiated by PPMI, on Saturday-Sunday, 25-26 April 2015.

“This event is one of the three events held before International Worker’s Day. It can be regarded as the celebration of International Worker’s Day. (The goal) tightening the friendship and brotherhood between all members of DPC PPMI Karawang, “said Taopik Zaenal Muttaqin, the coordinator of this event, to Solidaritas.net on Wednesday (22/04/2015).

The volleyball tournament itself will be attended by 20 clubs from various PPA PPMI in a number of companies located in Karawang. Interestingly, in addition to cash and trophy, the volleyball tournament will reward a sheep for the first winner. It is in accordance with the tournament’s name. According to Taopik, it was the result of committee meeting to provide a unique and interesting prize.

Besides the volleyball tournament, DPC PPMI Karawang will also arrange a number of social events as the final event of May Day 2015.The series social events include social services in the form of a mass circumcision and Tabligh Akbar that will be held in Jami Aliyah Mosque, Arterial Street West Karawang Toll (In front of Karaba Indah Housing) on 1 May 2015. Workers and labors unions all over Jabodetabek and Purwasuka will be invited.

Related to the May Day 2015, Taopik explained that the most important thing is not only about commemorating the laborers’ struggle in demanding welfare and justice. Underneath it, the laborers have to promote unity and do not forget to be grateful.

“The fact today is laborers are separated, instead of united. Hopefully this event can be a media and forum to unite labor force. And, to make them believe and fear of Allah. Because there is no struggle without prayer and Allah’s intervention,”said the Head of Advocacy Department of DPC PPMI Karawang who works in PT Hagihara West Java industry.
